Residential Bug Sweeps

We prevent unlawful access to your private and confidential information.

Many people believe only high-net-worth individuals need to hire a professional to provide technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM). This is simply not true.

Who Should Hire a TSCM Company?

People involved in certain activities or having certain information either personal or business related are frequent targets of residential surveillance. The following are some instances that make surveillance countermeasures in the home an important tool in the struggle to keep personal information protected.

  1. Protecting vital personal information including personal financial information such as account numbers, passwords, and the like
  2. Domestic issues such as divorce, where custody and financial issues are in dispute
  3. Business information kept at home on computers or in paper files
  4. Keeping kids’ computer surfing safe
  5. Personal litigation—lawsuits, compensation, or disability claims, and the like

Eavesdroppers often target executives’ homes and corporate apartments. Targeting homes are popular with data thieves and corporate spies, as people tend to be less cautious when speaking in the privacy of their homes. Listening devices hidden in the home can pick up, record, and transmit conversations. A spouse may discuss an upcoming business deal or a forthcoming IPO that has not yet been announced or may log in to their own bank or their company’s stored data. Computer systems are vulnerable if a key log tracker is surreptitiously placed on the system or if the residential WiFi system is compromised.

Notice if you find a suspicious device, do not touch it. It is evidence and you are in a crime scene. Secure the area and contact us immediately.

What Are Technical Surveillance Countermeasures?

Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) sweeps for the home include looking for audio, video, data and/or tracking devices.

What Can I Expect from a Residential TSCM Sweep?

You can expect your TSCM provider to arrive at your residence in an unmarked vehicle. At that time we would like to meet you outside to discuss your suspicions and conduct a pre-sweep walk-through quietly. Next the team will enter with their equipment and conduct their sweep. At the
conclusion of the sweep, we will tell you our findings. Within 3 business days, we will generate a full written report.

Equipment That May Be Used for a Residential Technical Surveillance Countermeasure Sweep

The following are the kinds of equipment used in residential TSCM:

  • Spectrum analyzer and vector signal analyzer—Used for more advanced
analysis of threatening and non-threatening radio signals
  • Near Field RF Detectors
  • Non-Linear Junction Detector – NLJD
  • Multimeter—used to find electrical currents
  • Traditional tools such as screwdrivers, flashlights, pliers, etc.

While television shows suggest sweeps only take a short time, they can take at several hours to perform.  This is often dependent on the size of the location to be swept.  Most times a two-person team is assigned to sweep a residence.
